Detroit to Host 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships
USA Volleyball today announced that Detroit will host the 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC) on June 25 at Cobo Center. The competition will bring more than 1,208 teams, approximately 12,000 players, and more than 25,000 spectators to the city. Wayne State University Opens Geology Mineral Museum in Detroit
Wayne State University today announced a new Geology Mineral Museum, which includes a collection of minerals once owned by inventor Thomas Edison and a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite, the first of its kind in Detroit. Located on the lower level of Old Main at Cass and Warren avenues, the museum will open to the public on May 19 and will feature the university’s collection of thousands of geological specimens.Read More
‘Rockin’ on the Riverfront’ in Detroit Announces Summer Lineup
Six classic rock acts have been announced for the 12th installation of “Rockin’ on the Riverfront” in downtown Detroit. The free summer outdoor concert series starts July 14 and happens every Friday through Aug. 18 at the footsteps of the Renaissance Center on the Detroit River.
Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. They are first come first served and contingent on the weather. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs to stake a space with a view of the stage. Seating directly in front of the stage is reserved for VIP members.Read More
