This easy starter will please crowds of any size, just bake a wheel of fragrant cheese, and adorn it with a punchy cranberry-apple relish.
Ingredients
- 1 10oz Brie wheel
- 1 cup cranberries
- 1 lady apple, halved
- ⅓ cup cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard seed
- 1 orange, peel, and juice
- 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar
- 3 sprigs of winter savory
- Crostini for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a small pot combine the cranberries, lady apple, cane sugar, mustard seed, peel, and juice of 1 orange, sherry vinegar, and 2 sprigs of savory. Bring to a boil, and reduce to a simmer, until cranberries have burst, and the mixture has thickened. Remove the lady apple and the winter savory. Set aside and let cool.
- Place the brie into a cast iron pan and bake for 15 minutes, or until the interior of the brie is gooey and warm. Top with the cranberry and mustard seed compote and garnish with a sprig of savory. Serve immediately with crostini.
