Art
In an effort to practice social distancing at this time, below are some art activities to keep you and your loved ones busy and safe:
- Hands On Activity. Are you a hands-on learner? Perhaps you love spending time outdoors creating stuff from nature? With this in mind, you can easily build models of different things that are found from natural objects like sticks, rocks and leaves. In addition, one idea is to make a model of your favorite forest animal! For instance, check out work from the artist Andy Goldsworthy for ideas!
- Nature Journaling. How to get started with journaling? Really simple! In other words, all you need is a writing utensil and something to write on! You can now go on an adventure and start journaling all the wonders of the world around us. In addition, consider picking a place to visit outside and everyday spend sometime jotting down your surroundings or even animals you come across!
- Collecting Specimens. Time to reconnect with nature and spend time with your family on a science adventure. To summarize, take a walk outside and start collecting specimens like acorns, sticks and other useful nature items. Let your kids dig in dirt and explore nature in the safe way. In conclusion, let them count their specimens and let their imaginary run wild!
- Bird Feeders. There is something so easy and fun about creating your own bird feeders in your backyard at home. By all means, the process takes just a few props until the whole family is having fun! The easiest method is to find a pine cone then cover it with peanut butter and some seeds. If you don’t have any pine cones a great alternative is to use milk cartons — the excitement is there! With this in mind, check out more great ideas from this list!
- Home Olympics. Unfortuntely the Summer Olympics for 2020 are gone, but that shouldn’t stop you and your kids from playing some pretend! On the positive side, it’s time to setup different competitions or even come up with your own ideas! In conclusion, make sure you are still going for that gold!
